Amazon.com announced the release of “Amazon App for Android”, an official shopping client for fast searching and shopping on Amazon.com which is now available as a free download to a user’s device in Android Market and allows users to snap photos of items such as CDs or DVDs, or alternatively of barcodes, and pull up matching products from their own catalog.

Here’s a list of features and a few screenshots of Amazon App for Android :
- Read Amazon.com product descriptions and user reviews. On the results page, shoppers can click links that take them to full Amazon user reviews and ratings data.
- Add “Remembers” while in-store. Scan a barcode or snap a photo of an item and Amazon will search for a similar product and add Remember it for purchase or research at a later time.
- Make purchases using Amazon’s 1-Click® ordering and Amazon Prime
- My Account feature lets users track packages, view or cancel items in recent orders, and Change 1-Click settings
- Common Amazon features like Wish List, Gold Box Deal of the Day, and Recommendations are all available. Based on past purchase history and wish list entries, Amazon offers recommendations of similar products every time the application loads.
